Special Services at Greenstone Family Clinic
As some conditions are more effectively dealt with outside of a regular consultation, we run a number of special services:
Skin clinic
We have a special interest in skin problems. 95% of skin problems can be sorted out in general practice while about 5% need to be referred to a Dermatologist. We often consult with other doctors in the clinic on difficult cases and we feel this gives you a higher quality of care.
We see our enrolled patients at the usual consultation fee. There is a higher fee for those patients not enrolled at our clinic.
If you know what skin problem you have you may find the dermatology website www.dermnet.org.nz to be helpful. If you don't know the diagnosis you should see one of our doctors.
Children's Clinic
Good news to parents/caregivers (both old and new), expecting parents, and children between the ages 0-18. Every other Saturday, 9am to midday, Greenstone offers a FREE consultation service via our nurse-led children's clinic. Consult about child development (feeding, weaning, colic, sleeping habits, etc.), ante/post natal issues, common illnesses and infections, immunisations, etc.
To enable us to maximise time spent with you (and your child), please pop in or ring us to book an appointment for this service. (At least 30 minutes per consultation.)
Nurse Practitioner Karen Hoare runs the children's clinic in coordination with your Greenstone doctors.
Ear clinic
Ear suction / aural toilet. Nurse Anne Hodges runs the ear clinic every Saturday from 9:00 am to midday. The fee for this service is $45.00 which includes consultation and suction.
Sexual health
Sexual health, family planning and birth control services are provided to those under the age of 22 years free of charge and to those over the age of 22 years at the usual fee. This includes:
- birth control advice for men and women
- Free condoms
- Investigation and treatment of sexually transmitted diseases
- We can arrange for vasectomies
- We can arrange for insertion of IUCDs (Intrauterine contraceptive devices also known as loops or coils)
Tattoo removal

For Community Services Card holders, the cost is $30 per session for visible tattoos; $60 per session for non-visible tattoos. For those with no Community Services Card the cost is $60 per session for visible tattoos; $110 per session for non-visible tattoos.
